Fortescue Achieves True Zero Emissions: Battery-Electric Locomotives Enter Commissioning
Fortescue has started commissioning two battery-electric locomotives (supplied by Progress Rail) for its Pilbara iron ore rail network, a key step in its decarbonization drive. Each locomotive is equipped with a 14.5 MWh battery and features regenerative braking, reducing annual diesel consumption by about 1 million liters.
